Bright and vibrant drinks photography
For new drinks brand on the block, Mogu Mogu
Being a new brand, we were asked to create a set of jazzy, colourful and fun drinks photography content to to help increase MOGU MOGU‘s online presence. Our aim was to create styled shots for each and every flavour created by the brand: a whopping 16 flavours in total!
Drinks Photography Shoot Styling
Styling was the most important element of this drinks photography shoot by far! With such a vibrant brand and so many colours on-site to work with, it was really important to us to make sure that every image was different but all remained just as memorable, fun and playful for the client and the end viewer. The purpose of these images was two-fold, since they’d be used for listings on the website and for social media too. That meant we had 2 slightly competing needs as one platform usually relies on consistency, while the other thrives on variation.
One great aspect for many of our shoots is how we use backgrounds – we have built up a really nice stock of those made by our friends at Photography Backdrop Club
Shoot Logistics
With our client already having an idea of what kind of drinks photography they were after, it was great to be able to merge these ideas to create a final goal to work on for each image. With a lot to shoot in a single day, a lot of planning went ahead to make sure we had time for everything and that we would have every resource we needed on hand to complete the job.
There was a lot of fruit prepping and ordering for this shoot! With 16 exotic fruit flavours to shoot and the UK heading into the winter months, planning to get all of these fruits and flavours was defiantly trickier then I originally thought. Thankfully, with many resources to hand, we were able to get everything we needed and more!
Drinks Photography In Production
The production side of this drinks photography project entailed working on a lot of smaller details for a shoot like this – for example, what colours worked to highlight the chunky pieces in the drink, what fruits would show up best compared to others. Our photographer, Kelly, did an amazing job with her styling techniques to make every shot look natural yet organised.
We completed the shoot without the client in attendance, so to make sure the client was still in the loop throughout, we used a WhatsApp chat to send draft imagery as their drinks photography shoot unfolded.
This is one of my first drinks photography shoots at Pocket, and a great one to get started with. I love working with details and colour, so this very much fits with my own style and creative likes!
“Fun, innovative and unflappable. Pocket creatives are great to work with – whether it’s finding the perfect lighting for trifle to capturing GoPro footage on a whisk, they always approach every situation with a steady yet game-changing attitude. I see the whole team as trusted creative partners to make great content together.”

“I have been working with Steven and the brilliant Pocket Creatives crew for 3 years – in fact since they started out. They have captured in excess of 100 recipes, produced 7 videos including 2 crowdfunding campaigns, their work, professionalism, and commitment to client satisfaction second to none. What’s more is how they have developed, evolved and grown in creativity, experience, and inspiration.
On a personal front the individuals in the team have to most wonderful personalities – an absolute joy to work with!”
Tanya Robertson-Lambert, Tanya’s Just Real
“I worked with Steven and his Pocket Creatives team to create a recipe video, and I couldn’t recommend their services enough! From the ideation stage, through to filming and editing the finished product, at every stage, the whole team were first-class, going above and beyond to create a compelling, high-quality recipe video that generated heaps of engagement. I would definitely work them again.”
